The Allogen Laboratory Department within Cleveland Clinic’s Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute features more than 50 years of expertise in Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Typing, Crossmatching and Antibody Determination. Services include a complete testing menu and expert guidance for Solid Organ and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Programs supporting pre- and post-transplant patient needs. As Lab Technician II in this unit, you will receive and accession laboratory specimens, perform investigation procedures and resolve issues/problems. In this role, you will also gain access to various educational and professional development courses to enhance your skills and advance the Professional Ladder at Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
**This is a PRN role.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
- Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
- Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.
- Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
- Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
- Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED and one year of Laboratory experience OR Associate's Degree in Science
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Associate's Degree in Science

Physical Requirements:
- Performing specimen handling techniques and taking measurements
- Working in a stationary position for extended periods
- Moving throughout the department and hospital system
- Handling and transporting biohazardous materials and potential carcinogens
- Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones
- Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds
