The Department of General and Specialized Surgery includes a team of board-certified surgeons who evaluate and treat common and complex conditions affecting the abdomen, gastrointestinal system, and breasts. In General Surgery, you will directly support two surgeons, utilizing your knowledge of nursing theory and disease processes to provide exceptional care to patients. Your service is essential to providing continuity of care, higher in-office procedures and faster response times for patients.

A caregiver in this position works 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide professional nursing care to patients.
- Administer medication.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files.
- Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
- Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
- Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
- Follow Code Blue protocol.
- Graduate of Accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program
- Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through Advanced Cardia Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledge of infection control practices
- Experience with technology
- Computer literacy
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- One year of clinical experience
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
- Constant lifting and moving patients
- Carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel
- Stooping, pushing and pulling when moving a patient into position for treatment
- Reaching for, handling and manipulating equipment into position
- Potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens
- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
