As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors, from the moment they enter to the time they return home. You will assist them with everything from registration and information gathering to payment collection and insurance verification. This role is a great steppingstone to others within Customer Service and various departments within Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM — 7:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide a comprehensive set of business and financial related services during the patient access process on the day the patient arrives at the facility to receive service.
- Rotate to different locations/hospitals based on staffing needs.
- Perform registrations by completing an accurate face to face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
- Cross train to work all areas of Patient Access at any facility with minimal leadership guidance.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Act as a resource for training of new team members and during the implementation of new processes.
- Participate on committees and engage in continuous improvement efforts.
- Schedule services and provide physician offices/patients with accurate date and time information.
- Perform preregistration by contacting the patient and completing an accurate interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED and three years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact OR Associate’s Degree and two years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience
- Basic PC software application knowledge
- Ability to use multiple data systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders or completion of course within one year of hire

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
