As an Intern in this program, you will develop knowledge and skills through hands-on experience and top-quality training, such as learning technical functions, medication therapy management, specialty medication services and quality assurance. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related issues under supervision of the Pharmacist.
- Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
- Compound and prepare medications for delivery to patient care areas.
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
- Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Current enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy Program meeting education requirements to qualify for intern license in the State of Ohio OR International Pharmacy experience meeting the requirements to qualify for the Foreign Graduate Pharmacy Intern License
- Current State Board of Pharmacy Intern License (PH/INT) before hire
