Occupational Therapists (OT) provide many services to maximize patients’ ability to perform self-care, work and leisure activities to the best of their physical, emotional and cognitive abilities. Ultimately, your goal as an OT is to help people re-learn skills needed to live independent, productive and satisfying lives. Aside from providing unmatched support, you will also have opportunities to participate in special interest groups, committees and education resources.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM and 7:00AM - 6:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Evaluate and treat occupational therapy patients.
- Communicate to referral sources about patients’ initial condition, progress and discharge disposition.
- Complete patient related and non-patient related documentation in a timely manner.
- Delegate and supervise the patient care of COTA's, support staff and students.
- Market services to patients, referral sources and the public.
- Effectively organize work assignments and time without compromising quality patient care while achieving maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Achieve personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, in-services, orientation programs and student programs.
- Maintain an orderly and safe work environment by keeping treatment areas and department clean.
- Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department specific competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Ohio
- Current CPR Certification
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Occupational Therapy experience
