In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations across numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from some of our best healthcare professionals. You will collaborate with your fellow caregivers in maintaining appropriate and quality patient care, environment cleanliness and overall team organization. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming and taking vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry.
- Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
- Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation.
- Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
- Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire
- Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as hygiene, skin care and vital signs

Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
