The 4100 Cardiac Telemetry/Renal Unit at Akron General houses a diverse population of patients managing complex conditions, such as Congestive Heart Failure, ESRD, cardiac arrythmia, acute coronary syndrome and other comorbidities. As an RN on this team, you will ensure these patients feel comfortable and safe throughout treatment. You will gain extensive hands-on experience in a fast-paced, encouraging environment, offering a unique opportunity to either advance a new nursing career or enhance your current skillset.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00AM—7:30PM or 7:00PM—7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Deliver patient care utilizing the case management principles, the nursing process and knowledge from various healthcare disciplines.
Manage assigned personnel and collaborate with members of other healthcare disciplines.
Promote and demonstrate nursing caring standards and guest relations standards.
Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care and serve as a patient advocate.
Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication and document.
Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education, maintain applicable certification/licensure, obtain any required certifications specific to the unit and maintain BLS and ACLS Certifications.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
One year of acute care nursing experience
If assigned to designated units where required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
