The Forensic / SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) unit at Cleveland Clinic is staffed by nurses who are specially trained to care for individuals of all ages who have experienced or witnessed any type of violence. This violence may include sexual assault, child abuse, interpersonal violence, elder abuse, or human trafficking.

A caregiver in this position works evening / night rotation, 7 : 00pm - 7 : 00am

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

• Provide enhanced follow-up services and resources, safety plans are discussed and implemented before the patient is discharged.
• Perform speculum exams and / or pediatric assessments under the supervision of a LIP.
• Utilize a thorough knowledge on collecting and managing forensic evidence with a Sexual Assault Exam Collection (SAEC) kit and a Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault kit (DFSA).
• Interact and collaborate with medical and nursing staff, law enforcement, prosecutors, protective services, advocates, and other agencies as needed.
