Senior Director II – Cole Eye
Our retina team has some of the best clinical outcomes in the field and is passionate about leading the way in research and innovation for retinal diseases. Cole Eye treats adults and children with all ophthalmic conditions, performing basic eye care and advanced eye surgery. Thousands of international patients travel to receive treatment, including all types of eye surgery, at the institute every year. A large team of researchers is committed to making breakthroughs in retinal disease. Eye surgery - ranging from cataract surgery to macular surgery - is performed daily by our world-class staff.
The Senior Director leads in a matrixed environment and will act as the liaison between the provider organization and Market leadership to ensure patient scheduling and throughput is meeting service level expectations. This role works closely with Shared Services leaders to ensure service level expectations are managed and supported. The Senior Director leads a team that provides key information and updates to inform routine Institute – Market and Institute – Shared Services business reviews.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Lead clinical areas with high complexity as determined by the Enterprise Chief of Staff Office complexity guidelines and factors.
- Lead and facilitate a team focused on the following key areas: provider management, volume, access, and productivity, service line financial performance at the patient encounter level, service line strategy and growth, quality improvement and patient experience.
- Ensure team routinely partners with ambulatory operations for inbound and outbound patient scheduling (outpatient institutes).
- Partner with Ambulatory Operations and Access Team to ensure scheduling algorithms and standard work are optimized routinely (outpatient institutes).
- Work closely with local teams to ensure they are structured to meet patients served and growth targets.
- Implement practice support models and ensure coordination between local provider support teams.
- Act as the subject matter expert across the organization for service line financial performance and improvement opportunities (patient level encounter reporting): revenue per encounter, cost per encounter, contribution margin, length of stay (LOS) observed to expected.
- Initiate and monitor improvement initiatives for service line financial performance and influences all key stakeholders across the organization to execute on opportunities.
- Evaluate profitability of services at each location to inform appropriate site of service.
- Consult market and shared services on opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction opportunities.
- In partnership with the Executive Director develop a long-term service line strategy.
- Work with market teams to assess service line demand and competition within a given market.
- Closely partners with all Quality, Patient Safety and Experience (QPSE) teams to execute objectives and key results.
- Ensure adoption of Institute based quality systems and metrics to drive quality improvement work within a market.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field.
- Seven years of progressively responsible experience including supervisory experience.
- Excellent analytical skills and business acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and can work with minimal supervision.
- Master's degree may substitute two years of the experience requirement.
Physical Requirements:

- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information.
- Ability to travel throughout the health system.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
