What are the responsibilities and job description for the PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE - Nurse Family Partnership position at Cleveland County?
The Public Health Nurse Home Visitor for Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is responsible for providing comprehensive community health nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed and supervised under Public Health Nurse Supervisor for NFP. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5 pm with flexible hours to equal 40 hours per week are permitted as necessary to meet the demands of the NFP grant.

Essential Functions
Enroll and coordinate services for 25 clients.
Participate in one-on-one client visits, joint visits, NFP team meetings and case conferences.
Support policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of Nurse-Family Partnership while delivering individualized client services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs; considerable knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health; considerable knowledge of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed; general knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health. Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute Nurse-Family Partnership Guidelines; ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions; ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information, and to maintain effective working relationships; ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.
Education and Experience
Graduated from a four-year college or university with a B. S. Degree in Nursing.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 30 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Current License to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing.
Valid Drivers License.
Unless previously completed, upon hire must complete training in the Nurse-Family Partnership Core Education Sessions and Partners in Parenting Education. Also, must complete training and maintain competence in the Dyadic Assessment of Naturalistic Caregiver-Child Experiences.
This position is subject to random drug screenings.
This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department. By General Statue 166A-19.3, Departments of Health and Human Services are agencies that are a part of the State Emergency Response Team for occurrences or imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or man-made accidental, military, paramilitary, terrorism, weather-related, public health, explosion-related, riot-related cause, or technological failure or accident, including, but not limited to, a cyber incident, an explosion, a transportation accident, a radiological accident, or a chemical or other hazardous material incident. In the event that the State Emergency Response Team is activated, this position will be required to participate if deemed necessary.
