Job Overview
The Associate Scientist/Scientist will join a team that uses the company’s proprietary technology, IsoClear™, to develop an innovative class of diagnostic tests for a variety of human diseases and indications and will perform analytical procedures including testing of specimens and/or blood products supporting the research, development, and commercialization of current and future diagnostic tests.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Apply IsoClear™ technology for detection of changes in proteins structure, modifications, and interactions using partitioning in Aqueous Two-Phase Systems (ATPS)
- Run existing assays, develop, and prepare new assays for early detection of cancer and other diseases applying the company’s proprietary technology, IsoClear™
- Collaborate with other R&D team members to design experiments and determine protocols
- Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies
- Design and conduct tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Adhere to all applicable good laboratory practices and standard operating procedures
- Maintain records of studies in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and adhere to applicable archiving policies
- Accumulate data from analyses and prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to supervisor for final analysis
- Plan, organize, perform, and monitor daily project activities
- Manage and update lab supplies, chemicals, and equipment inventory records and order supplies and equipment as required
- Perform routine maintenance and laboratory upkeep
- Prepare reagents stock solutions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- PhD in Chemistry, Bioengineering or Chemical Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university, with at least two years of experience in a lab environment
- Proven experience to plan experiments independently with minimal guidance/direction is preferred
- Experience with analytical applications of partitioning in ATPS
- Experience with protein quantification and development of analytical assays preferred
- Firm understanding of research methods, protocols, procedures, techniques, and equipment
- Analytical chemistry experience with protein separation and purification, HPLC is preferred
- Experience with operating liquid handling robots (Hamilton, Tecan, etc.) is preferred
- Ability to analyze and evaluate empirical data and develop graphical and/or written interpretations and conclusions
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
- Proficient computer skills especially with Microsoft Office applications
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Works well in a collaborative and team-oriented environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively
- Position is on-site, this is NOT a remote or hybrid position
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle specimens and lab equipment required to process specimens and repair equipment
- May be required to stand for long periods of time
- Visual acuity to examine specimens and reagents
- The ability to distinguish colors
- Light lifting up to 50#s may be required; offices reachable by elevator but should be able to climb stairs in case elevator out.
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.
- Candidate must have ability to maintain punctual daily in-person attendance
