What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Counselor, Golf Day Camp - Washington Golf position at Cleveland Metroparks?
The Camp Counselor of the Golf Day Camp assists in conducting daily camp activities, including assisting campers when moving from golf station to golf station, preparing snack and drink breaks, assisting with camper lunches, and activities during before and after-care sessions. This position involves direct interactions with children ages 8-17, interactions with other Golf division personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
- Supervises youth campers ensuring a safe and positive summer camp experience.
- Assists or conducts daily camp activities, i.e., putting contests, golf baseball, kick ball, moving lunches and snacks/beverages,
- Prepares and ensures that necessary equipment is ready and in the correct location, i.e., golf clubs and golf balls
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Previous experience in camp, zoo, aquarium, or nature center education preferred
- Must be personable and outgoing, works efficiently and in an organized manner
- Possesses effective/strong communication skills
- Must pass background screen which includes fingerprinting and drug screen
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Provide three positive written references attesting to the suitability of the individual to work with children
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
