What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conservation Stewardship Intern position at Cleveland Metroparks?
The Conservation Stewardship Intern monitors Cleveland Metroparks property boundaries and conservation easements and reports property encroachments and conservation easement stewardship visit observations to the Land Conservation Manager and Conservation Stewardship Specialist. The Conservation Stewardship Intern creates property boundary maps using GIS and conducts field visits to verify conditions identified on maps, or as reported by park staff. The Conservation Stewardship Intern communicates findings from field visits to the Conservation Program Manager, and drafts reports and letters outlining those findings. The Conservation Stewardship Intern performs other Real Estate and Planning functions as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
- Works with Conservation Program Manager to identify potential property line encroachments using GIS software.
- Researches conservation easement agreements owned by Cleveland Metroparks.
- Conducts stewardship visits of lands preserved by conservation easement and records observations.
- Conducts stewardship visits of potential property line encroachments and records observations.
- Drafts reports and letters for conservation easement visits and property line encroachments.
- Drafts maps of Cleveland Metroparks property boundaries and conservation easement protected lands.
- Enters observations made during stewardship visits into forms using tablet computer.
- Observes and documents potentially negative and natural resource damaging land uses on or adjacent to Cleveland Metroparks lands.
- Manages records and files related to conservation easements, encroachments, and other Real Estate records.
- Performs other Real Estate, Land Acquisition, and Park Planning tasks as assigned.
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
