What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zoo Interpretive Media Assistant position at Cleveland Metroparks?
The Zoo Interpretive Media Assistant assists in the fabrication, installation, and regular maintenance of Zoo graphics and interpretive media.
Essential Functions :
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and / or holidays as required.
- Assists Education Specialist and Education Manager in the fabrication, installation, and routine maintenance of Zoo graphics and interpretive media.
- Documents locations and performs regular quality control audits of animal identification labels, generic graphics, safety signs, and other graphics as needed or assigned.
- Travels to various locations throughout the Zoo to install and conduct proper maintenance of graphics and interpretive media.
- Cooperates with and assists with the implementation of other education programs, as needed, or assigned.
- Answers correspondence and provides an informational service in response to telephone, written, or personal inquiries.
- Assists other Zoo and Cleveland Metroparks departments in projects benefiting the Park District.
- Performs tasks as required by Education Assistant, Education Specialist, Education Manager, and Director of Education and Engagement.
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key / significant issues or concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and / or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Associates degree or equivalent, or currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program, related to animals, wildlife, environmental education, or graphic design, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
- Patience and ability to work safely and efficiently in public crowds that include children.
- Proficiency in software programs including all Microsoft Office programs.
- Mature professional attitude and considerable discretion, including ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.

- Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
Work Schedule : Must be available to work a variable work schedule to include mornings, day, evenings, weekends and holidays
