The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100 schools. THE OPPORTUNITY:
Location: Administration or As Assigned
Reports to: Sheet Metal Foreman
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay Rate: $36.75/hour
Union: Cleveland Building Trades Council and its Affiliated Local Union
Under the direct supervision of the Foreman, the Painter is responsible for applying paint, stain, lacquer, enamel, shellac, varnish and other finishes to the interior and exterior surfaces in all facilities and properties throughout the Cleveland Municipal School District.
Responsibilities
- Paint interior walls, ceiling, floors, window frames, woodwork and exterior building surfaces
- Prep work to include scrapping, sanding and cleaning prior to painting
- Stain and varnish woodwork
- Remove graffiti, perform power washing
- Prepare and mix paint
- Erect and work from scaffolds
- Must transports tools and equipment in personal vehicle
- Perform related duties as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from Painters’ Union four (4) year Apprenticeship Program and three (3) years of Journeyman experience, or seven (7) years of Journeyman experience
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and personal vehicle
- Must pass physical examination
- Must have “personal hand” tools routinely required for the craft
- Knowledge of painter trade
- Possess knowledge and use of power spray equipment
- Familiarity with blueprints, drawings and layouts
- Familiarity with related tools and equipment
