What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC) -- Warshawsky Fellowship in Fashion Curation position at Cleveland Museum of Art Job Openings?
Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC) / Warshawsky Fellowship in Fashion Curation
As the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Fashion Curatorial Department is rapidly developing projects, this internship is an opportunity to experiment with one’s emerging curatorial practice and have a deeper understanding of institutional processes. For the summer, the appointed intern will develop research and focus on harnessing creative concepts for an upcoming 2026/2027 21st-century American fashion exhibition. Moreover, the daily itinerary will include, but is not limited to, creating research portfolios on specific fashion historical aspects necessary for the upcoming exhibition, producing presentation proposals around new exhibition-making methods, and potentially publishing academic literature for the CMA.
Throughout the internship, the candidate will create an organized portfolio of research around pinpointed American fashion designer and design concepts in relation to the exhibition, a presentation on fashion curatorial methodology through contemporary means of learning in relation to the project, and a member’s magazine article revolving around the upcoming exhibition.
At the completion of the internship, the chosen candidate will have a better understanding of crafting exhibitions based on institutional and personal values, setting a foundation for the direction they desire to pursue beyond their studies. They will also be able to accomplish projects thoroughly yet efficiently, building their endurance to work in an institutional environment and understanding the boundaries of collaboration as a curator to formulate projects, which encompasses a bit of leadership training.
