What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant, Orthopedic Surgery (Full time) position at Cleveland Orthopedic & Spine Institute?

Responsible for assisting physician and physician assistant with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks. Responsible for chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the office services. Conveys a positive image of medical office.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Performs staple and suture removal as needed.
  • Documents all activities, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Completes all home healthcare and DME ordering required for surgery
  • Handles all clinical calls, clinical questions and prescription refill requests.
  • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies.
  • Maintains examination rooms including cleaning exam rooms between patient visits and stocks necessary supplies as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of basic clinical principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks timely.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, co-workers, patients and patients’ families.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma
  • Graduate of medical assisting program preferred
  • Orthopedic experience strongly preferred or willing to learn.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Occasional stress from workload.
  • Excellent time management skills.
