Title: Student Support Specialist (Part-Time)
Job Location: McMinn, Co., TN
Salary: $18/hr- not to exceed $21,600 annually
JOB OBJECTIVES
The Student Support Specialist (Part-time) is a grant-funded position. The selected candidate will assist Adult Education students with educational and career needs. This position is dedicated to clerical activities outlined with the Title II of WIOA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Support the Adult Education Office with general clerical duties (mailouts, restock supplies, etc.)
Manage electronic filing system
Collaborate with the Career Coaches, assisting with student needs, registration, intake and orientation-related activities for potential and current students.
Willingness to learn and support the department as it relates to new tasks and/or responsibilities.
Assist with scheduling, proctoring, and scoring state-required tests (CASAS; TABE; OPT; HISET).
Maintain class, staff, and event schedules.
CRITICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE / EXPERIENCE
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attentive to detail, flexible, and manage stressful situations.
Possess strong interpersonal communication skills and maintain focus with job responsibilities.
Ability to work with a variety of individuals / students.
Proficient oral and written communication skills and strong organizational skills.
Analytical skills and the ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.
Aware of effective customer service practices and ability to implement them within an educational setting.
JOB STANDARDS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Experience working in Adult Education preferred.
JOB LOCATION
The main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace. However, travel will be required throughout the college’s five county service area.
EQUIPMENT
Work activities routinely involve work personal computers, scanners, and peripheral devices. Photocopy, electronic mail systems and other machines are frequently used.
