What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Employee Benefits Program position at Cleveland State University?
Plans, develops, manages and leads CSU’s employee benefit programs. Develops and implements comprehensive employee benefits strategy that aligns with CSU’s goals and objectives. Oversees and manages all aspects of employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and wellness programs. Stays up to date with changing regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws governing employee benefits. Collaborates with insurance brokers, carriers and other vendors to negotiate terms, select appropriate plans and manages vendor relationships. Provides guidance and support to HR professionals in the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, claims resolution and employee education. Conducts regular audits and analysis of employee benefits programs to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities. Develops and delivers employee communications and training materials to educate employees about benefits options and promote wellness initiatives. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of employee benefits programs through analysis of key metrics and feedback from employees. Performs other functional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- Five (5) years’ experience in benefits, wellness and/or retirement programs
- Two (2) years’ experience successful supervisory/lead experience team of professionals
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
- Seven (7) years’ experience in benefits, wellness and/or retirement programs
- Three (3) years’ experience successful supervisory/lead experience team of professionals
- Experience with project managing medium to complex projects
- Experience in higher education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of legislation governing benefit plans (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, PPACA).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Financial ability to identify and implement cost-effective programs.
- Demonstrated strong leadership experience with involvement in execution as well as the development of strategic initiatives.
- Ability to effectively lead people and get results through others. In-depth knowledge and experience in effectively leading the wide-spectrum of compensation and benefits programs and practices which supports results-oriented business
