What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities and Events Assistant Athletics Director position at Cleveland State University?
Oversees the operations of athletics facilities, including coordination of maintenance requests, renovation projects, and facility rental agreements. Manages game-day operations for all varsity sports to ensure smooth execution in accordance with Cleveland State University (CSU), NCAA, and league policies. Assists in administering the access control system for athletics facilities. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree preferably in sports management, physical education, or related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in facility operations or athletic event operations in youth, club, intercollegiate or professional athletics. Experience includes any graduate assistant or internship roles.
- Leadership experience.
- Ability to be flexible regarding daily work schedule, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to establish and maintain driver eligibility under CSU’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferably in sports management, physical education, or related field.

- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with all NCAA, and CSU rules and regulations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
- Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.
- Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
