The University Advancement (UA) team consists of over 60 members, with an annual operating budget of $4.9 million. The new vice president will lead the office at a pivotal time, following a successful campaign and at the onset of planning the next one. The vice president will shape the future of philanthropy at SU by re-engaging alumni, community, and corporate partners; fostering a culture of belonging within the advancement team; and supporting academic units in their fundraising goals.
To succeed, the vice president must have a proven track record as a senior leader in advancement programs, with superior strategic ability at various levels. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of leadership experience in advancement programs, preferably within complex institutions. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred). A track record of building actionable relationships across academic and co-curricular domains is advantageous, as is a deep understanding of data analysis to drive strategy.
