Profile
Who We Are : For more than two decades, going our own way has led to countless breakthroughs, bettering the lives of those suffering from rare genetic disease. In 1997 we were founded to make a big difference in small patient populations. Now we seek to make an even greater impact by applying the same science-driven, patient-forward approach that propelled our last 25 years of drug development to larger genetic disorders, as well as genetic subsets of more common conditions. Through our unparalleled expertise in genetics and molecular biology, we will continue to develop targeted therapies that address the root cause of the conditions we seek to treat. Our desire to make a positive impact on our patients extends to our employees, and BioMarin is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every person feels seen, valued, and heard.
Scientific Communication & Exchange (SCE) Team : The SCE Team plays a critical role in maintaining and building BioMarin’s credibility and leadership within the fields of science, medicine, and biotechnology; and in demonstrating the value of our (investigational) therapies to patient communities and healthcare systems. Vital contributions include but are not limited to :
- Bringing clarity to complex data sets without over-simplification or over-interpretation.
- Developing educational content to ensure internal alignment and comprehension of key findings, and to support the needs of field MSLs and Medical Information needs.

- Ensuring accuracy and consistency in cross-functional, externally facing scientific and medical messaging.
- Performing all activities in a manner compliant with BioMarin best practices and through the use of non-promotional, evidence-based scientific and educational programs that shape the market and close knowledge gaps.
Responsibilities : The Executive Director (ED) of SCE will provide executive-level insights and leadership to SCE team members, ensuring a consistent application of methodological approaches across programs. While program leads within SCE will maintain program-specific foci, the ED will be accountable for infusing the overall SCE strategy with a portfolio view and insights driven by an understanding of evolving, broader business needs.
