Clientmind Recruiting is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a rapidly growing technology company in Greenbelt, MD. This is a full-time role with a hybrid schedule - onsite 3x per week between locations in Greenbelt and Frederick.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and extensive experience in mechanical design and manufacturing processes, particularly for products designed to meet military specifications. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading mechanical engineering projects from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles are integrated into the product
- Conduct DFMEA and PFMEA (Design, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to evaluate and mitigate potential design risks
- Work closely with production and quality managers to ensure consistent and high-quality mechanical assembly
- Provide effective root cause analysis and continuing improvement for production components
- Work closely with customers, government labs, and commercial test labs to verify mechanical performance of newly designed systems against program requirements
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, product managers, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic components
- Design plastic and metal enclosures with a focus on manufacturing processes such as injection molding
- Ensure designs meet military specifications and environmental requirements including ingress protection, shock, vibration, drop, salt / fog, and chemical resistance
- Utilize SolidWorks to develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for all stages of product development
