Key Responsibilities of the Swim Instructor:
- Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- Plan swim practices daily and organizes a season plan for the swim team.
- Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by department manager.
- Enforces the rules of conduct.
- Provides lessons in line with WSI or USA Swim Coach guidelines.
- Organize and support scheduling of lessons and billing with Wellness Director
- Attends youth spirit and social functions of the Club are requested to help build relationships with parents and interest in swim lessons.
- Communicated with parents and swimmers regarding progress and improvement.
- Maintains all necessary records determined by the department manager.
- Communicates with parents regarding practices, events, and team updates.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications of the Swim Instructor:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to four years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Certification, Water Safety or USA Swim Coach Certifications.
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, talks, hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the staff may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment used are in English)
Other Qualifications:
- ASCA certification preferred.
