What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Cliff Drysdale?
General Purpose :
A lifeguard's job is to keep people safe in or around the pool. This is done by actively surveilling the pool and the surrounding area. The lifeguard will be responsible for keeping the area safe by enforcing the club's water safety policies and procedures. Minimum 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- Active surveillance of the pool to prevent accidents and / or injuries
- Be prepared to take action if necessary
- Enforces all pool related rules set by Bailiwick club
- Administers first aid as trained by American Red Cross
Secondary Responsibilities
Education / Experience :
Be 15 years old or older, prefer work related experience. Positive attitude, flexible schedule.
Physical Demands :
Has met the requirements of American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course.
Frequently uses hands, talks and hears. Regularly stands and sits. Occasionally walks, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, tastes or smells. Occasionally Lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment / Noise :
Works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); near fumes or airborne particles, and near toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates / Licenses :
Valid American Red Cross, Lifeguard Certificate, CPR Pro. Lifeguard certification must be submitted with application.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences :
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
