PURPOSE:
School-Based Clinician: Under general supervision, the position of clinician is responsible for providing integrated, trauma-informed school- based mental health services in collaboration with school principals, school psychologists, school social workers, school nurses, educators, school professionals, community providers, caregivers, and families. Services include consultation, comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, individual/family/group therapy, classroom presentations, and participation in school-based meetings and events as necessary. The clinician would be required to work a 12-month calendar year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting intake interviews; making preliminary assessment and diagnosis
- Regularly collaborating and consulting with internal staff in the development and re-evaluation of treatment plans to ensure clients and families receive the appropriate level of individualized clinical care and community support
- Conducting individual, family, and group psychotherapy as well as case management for assigned clients and families utilizing a variety of approved treatment models and interventions
- Flexibility to do community and/or in-home appointments as needed
- Handling emergency calls as necessary
- Acting as liaison between client,school and other community agenciesproviding services to client
- Regularly participating in meetings and in-service training programs as a vital team member of the clinic
- Providing leadership in peer groups, specialized teams and committees as required
- Regularly documenting contact with students and families
- Regularly collaborating and engaging with school staff
- Participating in school meetings and community events as necessary
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree in a Mental Health Discipline
- Associate License or equivalent (LMSW, MFTA, LPCA)
- CT Clinical License Preferred (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
- Experience working within a school preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- On-site full-time while school is in session, unless conducting a service in-home or community.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
SKILLS:
Must exhibit knowledge and or proven ability in delivering developmentally appropriate services according to the program being supported, while demonstrating the following skills:
- A proven ability to document work in Electronic Medical Records
- A proven ability to conduct screenings and evaluations, and formulate diagnoses in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM)
- A proven ability to develop and document, clear clinical formulations and treatment plans that are individualized and measurable in collaboration with the client/family, and others as relevant
- A proven ability to provide case management and clinical indicated referrals to families
- A proven ability to triage clinical emergencies to appropriate level of care
- A proven ability to utilize best practices and evidenced based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations
- A proven ability to utilize trauma informed practices in the work with families
- Proven knowledge of school systems
- A proven ability in working both independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team in a school setting:
- This role may require travel throughout the Greater New Haven area

Salary : $50,000 - $70,000
