- General Overview
- Provide technical field supervision of up to 12 HVAC Technicians.
- Fulfilling the role of a service technician as needed
- Is a career student in our industry craft, mentoring others to be the same.
- Teach Climate Systems technicians how read and interpret product specifications and experience in working with building specifications, drawings, and designs.
- Respond to or assist other Service Technicians responding to emergency service calls to keep system downtime to a minimum. Provide counsel, coaching and leadership and/or analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and restore equipment/systems to full operation and recommend revisions/replacements/upgrades when necessary for effectiveness or in cases of obsolescence.
- Provide timely, proactive feedback (positive or negative), to reinforce positive results or reduce potential call backs due to similar incidents.
- Additionally, assist with service call backs and provide education to the technician that ran the call originally to mitigate future issues. Preferably by having them return to the job site with you if the current workload permits it.
- Understand the importance of positive cash flow and how it relates to Service Call execution, the details input by your Team and the timely completion of work.
- Help the company develop and implement “On Call” and overtime expectations with your Team.
- Team Recruitment and Review
- Leading efforts to hire, train your team members and promote good will for Climate Systems in the industry.
- Assess new hire technical and soft skill capabilities by working with them hand in hand over the first month of employment.
- Actively participate in performance evaluations of Service technicians, providing feedback on technical skills, attitude, thoroughness, teamwork, and developmental suggestions for technicians.
- Safety Leadership
- Leading safety efforts for your team and being a positive safety example to the company.
- Contribute to accident and illness prevention by ensuring that safe work practices are implemented, and that the work environment is safe; provide job site safety training as required by OSHA and Climate Systems safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain and have good understanding of proper PPE use daily.
- Have a basic understanding of company safety ratings and how it impacts on our ability to perform work for high level, good quality customers. (The kind of work all technicians really want to do.)
- Daily Processes and Service Coordination Support
- Assist Service Coordinators to meet customers’ needs and drive cohesiveness within the team.
- Provide expert counsel on scheduling assistance with Service Coordinator as needed.
- Assist the Service Coordinator in Team mentorship on Service Call completion importance.
- Have a general understanding of the Service Call billing process to guide your Team on the importance of details and thoroughness.
- Sales Support
- Helping sell work and develop customer relationships.
- Support Sales by assisting with job site surveys and providing input for estimates.
- Identify and bring awareness to jobsite safety procedures or issues while working with our Sale Team.
- Provide technical mentorship and education while working with our Sales Team.
- Participates in the Estimate Review Process as required.
- Preventative Maintenance Contracts
- Seek to understand how PM contracts are priced.
- Have general knowledge of various coverage options Climate Systems is willing to provide in our marketplace,
- Have a fluid understanding of sold PM contract scope and cost estimated. To include labor hours allocated and materials estimated for services. Driving efficiency and education with fellow technicians.
- Work with the Service Manager on understanding PM labor load and what it correlates into for our business.
- Provide technician mentorship on finding pull through opportunities while working on PM’s.
- Projects Teams Support
- Having an awareness within the industry of potential talent to add to the depth of our Projects Team.
- Actively looking for project opportunities and turning them over for follow up.
- Working cooperatively with the Projects Team to fulfill the execution of and expectations of our customers.
- Mentoring your team to be supportive of the Projects Team’s efforts.
- Asset Management
- Assist the Service Manager in setting and managing a tool expenditure budget for your team.
- Maximizing company profitability by controlling tool expenditures within the company.
- Educate team members about the costs associated with company assets and maintaining them.
- Leading by example on proper use and treatment of company provided tools and assets.
- Maintain a clean well organized company vehicle holding team members accountable to do the same.
- Technology & Reference Library Management
- Be a subject matter expert on Climate Systems software operating platform, paperwork processes and procedures. Mentoring team members when needed on these.
- Utilize Vendor & OEM Apps to find equipment information for troubleshooting, identify part numbers, availability and cost associated. Role these Apps out to your Team and train them to utilize them to maximize efficiency.
- Identifies equipment or industry specific software, interface devices and assets needed to stay current giving Climate Systems the ability to service our customers needs seamlessly.
- Utilizes equipment specific software tools as needed and has good operational experience to teach others on use of them.
- Keeps a current library on common HVAC products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair to assist team members.
- Teaching your Team how to maintain an electronic library of service literature to service our customers accurately and efficiently
