Job Description
SHIPPER/RECEIVER
This position is responsible for the shipping, receiving, proper handling of materials, equipment and stock to and from an establishment.
Adhere to shipping and receiving policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures. Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and safety standards/procedures.
Key areas of Responsibility:
Prepares, processes incoming and outgoing shipments performing the following tasks:
Operates fork truck, lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Must be able to drive company vehicles up to 25,500 lb. gross vehicle weight (manual and automatic transmissions) to transport equipment between facilities and to pick up equipment from vendor sites.
Uses computer to prepare packing lists, bills of lading and other documentation required for domestic and international shipments.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged/non-conforming items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper and P.O to rectify damages and shortages.
Places materials in correct inventory locations
Load and Unload trucks
Pack, seal and label materials to prepare for shipping.
Verifies incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices or packing slips to ensure all items are received, not damaged and enters them into QuickBooks in compliance with company policies, procedures and standards.
Design, fabricate and assemble wooden crates or cardboard containers to ensure product integrity during shipment.
Maintains safe work area, uses personal protective equipment, follows safety protocols.
Keep the immediate work area clean and organized
Perform tasks in multi-temperature environments.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as requested or required whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. These will include:
Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Physical Card) or ability to obtain Medical Examiner Card
1-3 years of shipping/receiving experience
High School Degree or equivalent
General computer skills, proficient in MS Work and Excel
Salary will be commensurate with experience, health care and 401k available.
