JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a proficient and resourceful Hardware and Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support our IT hardware and networking systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a problem-solving approach, ensuring the organization's IT infrastructure operates seamlessly and securely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Hardware and User Support :
Configure laptops and desktops, installing all required software for optimal performance.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and ensure proper access to network folders.
Resolve day-to-day IT support requests from employees.
Maintain and upgrade hardware and related infrastructure as needed.
Educate users on cybersecurity best practices and provide technical training when required.
Network Administration and Optimization :
Design and implement network solutions to improve performance and scalability.
Configure and manage network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Install and maintain VPN connections on user systems to ensure secure remote access.
Monitor network performance and optimize for efficiency, reliability, and security.
Maintain user permissions for networks and shared folders.
Document system configurations, procedures, and policies related to networking.
Server Management and Maintenance :
Perform server installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
Apply regular software updates and patching to ensure servers remain secure and operational.
Troubleshoot server issues and resolve problems effectively.
Oversee data backup and recovery processes, ensuring business continuity.
Maintain comprehensive documentation related to server configurations and procedures.
Microsoft 365 Administration :
Create and manage user accounts in Microsoft 365.
Configure and install Outlook 365 on employee laptops and desktops.
Manage Microsoft 365 features, settings, and email security to enhance productivity.
General Responsibilities :
Ensure the security of hardware and network infrastructure.
Work with IT teams to integrate new technologies seamlessly into existing systems.
Maintain detailed documentation and generate reports related to hardware, networking, and servers.
Provide technical support and training to staff as needed.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Develop and maintain documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet organizational objectives.
Approximately 25% travel.
Other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Hardware and Network Engineer or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of hardware components, network architecture, and protocols.
Proficiency with tools and technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Windows Servers, phone (VoIP) communication systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and configuration.
Knowledge of VPN, firewall setup and maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred :
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network , or equivalent.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine / Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.
To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and / or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and / or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and / or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, shipyards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and / or applications support.
Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided. Usage may be driven by customer requirements. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses, hearing protection. Customer site working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined spaces, ambient temperature, physical requirements and hazards.
