Position: Administrative Assistant - Principal
Responsible To: Principal
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work with students, faculty and general public in a diplomatic, friendly and efficient manner
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures, along with district policies, procedures and functions
- Ability to edit routine correspondence for spelling and grammar
- Knowledge of standard office machines and equipment, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Google Suites , & proficient in keyboarding
- Excellent organizational skills; mature judgment; good attendance record and telephone skills
- High school diploma supplemented by minimum one years’ secretarial experience
- or -
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Primary Responsibilities:
To perform general secretarial duties for the building Principal; to serve a public relations role for the District by greeting and assigning visitors' to serve as an administrative support person to the school principal.
Term Of Employment:
10 month; Compensation as per salary schedule.
Compensation:
In accordance with the district approved payscale
Paid Time Off (PTO):
80 hous of leave a year, no designation of personal or sick required will be determined by the Board Of Education.

Performance Responsibilities
- Answers and screens incoming telephone calls; determines the purpose of the call and provides information directly or refers calls to the proper person or office; has familiarity with school policies/procedures and contacts within the school system.
- Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies for the District.
- Greets visitors, students, teachers and administrators; assesses the nature of the visit; assists visitors directly or directs them to the appropriate person.
- Maintains professional discretion in disclosing private details that might violate FERPA.
- Manages payments and deposits of monies that are collected at the school according to district protocols and policy.
- Performs other duties as required or directed by immediate supervisor.
- Receives, transcribes, and delivers messages to students and staff.
- Sets up and maintains various filing systems such as attendance records for students, purchase orders, payroll data for staff, attendance records for staff, substitute teacher records, policies and procedures.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Types and assembles a variety of correspondence, purchase orders and reports including confidential data from taped, handwritten or verbally dictated notes; uses word-processing equipment.
Supervisory Duties:
Will be assigned various supervisory positions as deemed necessary.
Skills and Abilities
Must be willing to learn and comply with district initiatives that involve technical and program skills. Such as but not limited to Student Information Systems (SIS) and online curriculums, as well as proficiency with computer based communication expectations.
Attendance:
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Must follow district policy on employee absences.
Computation:
Ability to define problems, locate and reference district and state level curriculum and, or learning standards, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrate computer competency in a wide spectrum of functions, ability to provide support for the District inventory, resource managers, and word processing technology programs including: demonstrated ability to learn and apply computer technology skills rapidly.
Hearing:
Must be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment .
Language:
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
- Communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
- Preset information to students in an organized, and professional manner, which conveys professionalism to students, parents, peers, and stakeholders appropriately.
- Read, analyze and interpret administrative correspondence and directives as well as Board policy and handbooks.
- Keep student information confidential according to FERPA when required by law, except for from the building administration.
Physical Demands:
An individual who holds this position must frequently move in and around buildings and grounds, attend meetings and supervise designated areas. Frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Technology:
Basic computer skills, ability to learn new programs quickly, and manage the following: Basic Computer Word Processing, and Google Suites.
