Compensation: Approximately $57,225 - $79,213 annually. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.
Overview of Role:
The Grant Accounts performs professional accounting and complex technical duties associated with the classifying, recording, and reporting of all grant activity. The Grant Accountant maintains all accounting and financial records for various federal, state, regional, local, and/or privately funded grants. The Grant Accountant prepares and submits various federal grant reports and draw requests. The Grant Accountant will provide support to grant sponsors and the grant writer throughout the life of each grant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains financial records, work papers, and reports for all federal, state, regional, local and privately funded grants including preparation of journal entries for grant program transactions and completion of timely reconciliations with the general ledger and grant budgets.
- Prepare, post, and certify grant financial reports in the federal Payment Management System (PMS) and the HRSA Electronic Handbook (EHB).
- Develops operating and capital budgets for new or renewing grants for review and approval by the grant executive sponsor, Controller, and/or CFO.
- Monitors grant program budgets monthly to ensure expenditures are recorded accurately and within budgeted range.
- Completes monthly, quarterly, and/or year-end financial reports for all grants as required. Provides support for all grant audit requirements.
- Provides education and technical assistance to organization staff on grant regulations and use of grant funds.
- Project Management: uses project management skills as both a leader and team member to complete process improvement projects.
- Knowledgeable of and compliant with laws and regulations governing area of responsibility including working knowledge of GAAP, FASB, GASB, and Uniform Guidance requirements.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; accounting, finance, and/or business or health administration major preferred
- Minimum three years of experience in non-profit accounting with at least one year of grant accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare setting.
- Eligibility for the National Grants Management Association’s CGMS certification (https://www.ngma.org/cgms) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community
- Bilingual Spanish desired, but not required
- Strong project management skills including the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results
- Must have experience with accounting and finance ERP systems (payables, receivables, general ledger, etc.); experience with NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and/or UKG preferred
- Must have proficiency in the use Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
