Position Overview:
As a Positive Behavior Support Specialist, you'll be an essential part of our team, providing professional consultation, evaluation, and assessment to participants and their support systems. Your expertise will guide the development of behavior support plans and interventions that promote skill acquisition, community living, and the reduction of maladaptive behaviors. By conducting functional assessments and utilizing evidence-based tools, you'll play a pivotal role in improving participants' daily lives and fostering a supportive environment.
Qualifications:*
- Master's Degree in a behavioral science and a minimum of one (1) year of behavioral programming experience.
- At least one (1) year of direct service experience with individuals having intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Valid Social Security Number or work permit if not a U.S. citizen.
- Meet all independent functioning requirements according to relevant waiver regulations (background checks, drug screens, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment
- Able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time
- Able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection
- Be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home and/or community placements
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Functional Assessments and develop Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) in alignment with SCL Policy Manual and company training.
- Deliver evidence-based, person-centered treatment informed by assessment outcomes and diagnosis. Provide on-site training and technical assistance to implement plans effectively.
- Coordinate program-wide supports as needed and contribute to home treatment and support plan development.
- Attend team meetings as requested. Monitor treatment plans for fidelity, effectiveness, and impact using observation, data, and stakeholder input. Document all services thoroughly, including descriptions, analyses, and required details.
- Generate monthly summaries with data graphs and complete biannual justification letters for continued services.
- Participate in supervision as scheduled, adhere to documentation deadlines, and follow all company policies.
