The Blood Bank Clinical Laboratory Scientist will report directly to the Medical Technologist Laboratory Supervisor, with additional support from the SBB (ASCP) Manager, Lead Technologist and Supervisory staff within the Laboratory. This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of ASCP Laboratory professionals, and healthcare providers to ensure the highest standards of patient care and laboratory operations. The Blood Bank department plays a vital role in the laboratory, specializing in blood transfusions, blood typing, compatibility testing, and other critical services to support patient treatment.
A Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, chemical, physical, or biological sciences is essential. Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Blood Bank Technologist (ASCP), along with a required Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB ASCP) certification, will fast-track your interview process for this role.
The Blood Bank Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform blood typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and related testing. They will prepare and issue blood products per medical protocols and regulatory standards.
