This full-time, onsite leadership role involves managing all functions of the Emergency Department, including stroke and trauma programs, as well as contributing to house supervision and float pool management. The Nurse Manager will collaborate with staff, providers, and leadership to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient department operations, and adherence to the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities of the ER Assistant Director include implementing and revising standards of nursing practice, managing staffing plans, overseeing quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures. The ER Assistant Director will act as a liaison with patients, physicians, and staff to maintain a culture of safety and professionalism while supporting teamwork and cultural practices. Additionally, this position involves mentoring staff, conducting performance appraisals, and managing department budgets to achieve cost-effective, high-quality care.
Qualifications of the ER Assistant Director include a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should have at least five years of acute care hospital experience, including management or leadership roles, with a preference for experience in emergency or critical care settings. Current certifications in BLS and ACLS are preferred, with PALS and NIHISS certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
