The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs nuclear medicine procedures under the direction of a licensed practitioner, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of the field including assisting with interventional procedures. They ensure appropriate technical factors are selected, evaluate image quality, and assist in administering radiopharmaceuticals and other medications as needed. Responsibilities also include maintaining records of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations, and independently performing technical procedures with professionalism and patient care, while upholding radiation safety standards and preserving patient comfort and privacy.
The ideal Nuclear Medicine Technologist should have an Associate's Degree or Certificate in Radiography / Magnetic Resonance Imaging, along with ARRT certification as an R.T.(R) or R.T.(MR), or eligibility for registration within 6 months of hire.
