The Nurse Educator - Oncology will report directly to the Director of Oncology Services and will work closely with the oncology nursing staff, multidisciplinary teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of cancer care and education.
The Oncology Unit at our Medical Center offers comprehensive cancer care, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical oncology. Our unit is equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a team of highly skilled professionals dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care to our patients. The Nurse Educator will play a crucial role in enhancing the knowledge and skills of our oncology nursing staff.
The ideal candidate for the Nurse Educator - Oncology will have an active RN license. Candidates who are certified in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or possess a related certification, minimum of five years of clinical experience in oncology nursing is required, along with at least two years of experience in a nursing education or staff development role will earn a quick interview. The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of oncology care and treatments, and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective educational programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and materials for oncology nursing staff.
- Provide orientation and ongoing training to new and existing staff, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest oncology practices and protocols.
- Collaborate with the oncology team to identify educational needs and opportunities for professional development.
- Conduct competency assessments and provide feedback to staff to promote continuous improvement.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects to advance oncology nursing practice.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for oncology nursing staff, promoting evidence-based practices and patient-centered care.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards in oncology education
