What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Risk Manager position at Clinical Management Consultants?
We're on the lookout for a Clinical Risk Manager to join our team in the Department of Risk Management and Patient Safety. As a Clinical Risk Manager, you'll be responsible for handling all things risk management for our organization. This includes investigating, managing, and analyzing risk management data, as well as ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Your main role will involve coordinating and investigating serious adverse events, including incidents that need to be reported to the relevant authorities. You'll also be responsible for documenting all related data and working towards resolving reported incidents. We're all about enhancing patient safety and quality of care while protecting our assets, so you'll be actively involved in developing strategies and implementing changes to reduce risk.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Coordinating our risk management program to meet our institution's needs.
- Reviewing and analyzing occurrence reports related to risk management, quality of care, regulatory issues, and insurance concerns.
- Conducting investigations of incidents that need to be reported to the authorities.
- Performing Root Cause Analysis investigations and working with departments and clinical chairpersons for peer reviews.
- Maintaining our risk management information system database.
- Preparing incident summary reports and providing all necessary documentation for investigations and resolutions.
- Facilitating the peer review process and ensuring safety solutions are implemented.
- Identifying organizational risks through trend analysis.
- Collaborating with on-site investigators and participating in risk management assessments.
- Acting as a resource person and presenting risk management issues for discussion and evaluation.
- Keeping up to date with regulatory requirements related to risk management.
- Responding to inquiries regarding reports and professional liability matters.
- Being available on-call to field inquiries from our staff outside of normal business hours.
- Participating in committees focused on promoting quality of care.
- Assisting in the development of educational programs to raise staff awareness of risk exposure and professional liability.
Here's what we're looking for:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher (or a combination of relevant experience and education).
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or a related health science field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management.
- A valid NYS RN, NP, PA, or allied health professional licensure.
- CPHRM certification is a plus.
