Transcriptionist/Support Staff Specialist

Role and Responsibilities
Transcriptionist with training in medical terminology and keyboarding. Transcription of medical reports for surgical pathology procedures and non-gynecologic procedures as well as general correspondence with attention to detail and knowledge of pathology protocol and HIPAA compliance.
Ability to type 60 wpm
Excellent communication skills -- communicating with doctors’ offices regarding test orders and pathologists in transcribing reports
Varied associated clerical duties, including, but not limited to:
- Maintenance of hard copy reports/scanning to electronic medical record
- Ordering lab tests at the request of doctors’ offices or pathologists
- Processing receipt of reference material from reference labs
- Preparation, packaging and logging of material to be sent to outside facilities
- Processing receipt of material returned from outside facilities
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High school diploma required
Specialized training or comparable work experience required
Preferred Skills
Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and computer skills to include 60 wpm keyboarding. Ability to work well with others, be a team player and be empathetic to the needs of others. Confidentiality a must.
Additional Notes
Type of work: mainly sedentary, may require light lifting, short periods of walking.
