Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and collecting samples from patients while ensuring a high standard of patient care and safety. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures. The Phlebotomist will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely sample collection.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling on patients of all ages.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and samples to maintain accuracy.
- Collect, label, and transport specimens in accordance with clinical laboratory protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after blood collection.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, adhering to safety protocols.
- Document patient information and procedures accurately in electronic health records.
- Assist in training new staff or interns on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient service.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to blood sampling.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on empathy and communication.
- Proficient in patient care techniques, ensuring comfort during procedures.
- Experience with blood sampling techniques, including venipuncture.
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory operations and hospital environments.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessments as part of patient evaluation.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to specimen handling and processing.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in sample collection and documentation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour
