As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. You will provide counseling and support to clients, helping them overcome their addiction and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Duties:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address substance abuse issues
- Provide child and family counseling services to address the impact of substance abuse on relationships and family dynamics
- Collect and analyze data related to client progress, treatment outcomes, and program effectiveness
- Lead group therapy sessions to foster peer support and encourage open discussion among clients
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation, including patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients with co-occurring mental health disorders
- Stay updated on the latest research and developments in the field of substance abuse treatment to enhance your knowledge and skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Behavioral Health or related field
- Valid certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CADC, LCADC, ADT)
- Proven experience in providing individual and group counseling for substance abuse disorders
- Proficient in conducting patient assessments and developing personalized treatment plans
- Familiarity with medical documentation and recordkeeping procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and create a supportive therapeutic environment
- Compassionate, non-judgmental approach towards individuals struggling with addiction
