CSO is looking for a Director of Food Services and Event Hospitality for our kitchen at Friends of the Homeless (FOH.)
This position is responsible for the regional operation of foodservices by providing a nutritious and pleasant dining experience for guests/clients and enhancing community partnerships through donor and volunteer interaction. This Director oversees kitchen activities and functions across the agency, including meal and snack planning, food/supply ordering, food delivery, inventory control, food storage and disposal, cleanliness, food safety and ServSafe compliance The role orchestrates and facilitates agency events catering, community agricultural projects, and assists in creation of internal agency events, fundraising activities and volunteer engagement programs.
As a Director of Food Services and Event Hospitality:
You Will:

Oversee the preparation, cooking and serving of meals at all residential and shelter programs, primarily out of the FOH kitchen (where more than 600 meals are prepared each day)

Guide any meal and snack planning for after-school, community, day, and/or Clubhouse programs for optimal nutrition and cost-effectiveness

Procure and maintain inventory of food and foodservice supplies across the agency

Establishe procurement method for all CSO program locations to acquire and produce meals and snacks.

Maintain accurate purchasing records. Ensure that department purchases remain within budget

Manage the food preparation, distribution and quality control practices of the department to ensure optimum nutrition and quality of product and compliance with health, safety and sanitation requirements and codes

Ensure proper sanitation practices in food preparation and cooking

Be responsible for food rotation, labeling and dating of food, where appropriate

Prepare menu, food production and staffing schedules as needed. Adapt to variances based on food donations received by shelter

Provide training, supervision and direction to assigned staff

Work in multi-disciplinary team approach with other FOH departments to enhance training for individual participants. Maintain working relationships with other departments at CSO, including Facilities and Operations as well as clinical and therapeutic programs that might benefit from work-oriented engagement (such as gardening or culinary arts)

Help the Marketing & Development team envision, create, and produce fundraising and hospitality events

Qualifications
Your Background:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts (preferred)

Supervisory experience (5 years preferred)

Knowledge of food safety, knife skills, and general kitchen best practices

Computer proficiency
-
ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
