JOB OBJECTIVE
The Urgent Care FNP/PA is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients within a fast-paced urgent care setting. The FNP is a professional level position working under limited direction. Interacts with a multi-cultural population of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, ages and levels of education. The FNP reports to the Chief Medical Officer and to the Health Center Manager for operational matters.
Locations: Santa Paula, Simi Valley Madera, RSJ Urgent Care
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The FNP/PA is responsible for performing the following duties:
- Performs examinations and provides treatment for minor injuries and acute illness to adult patients and children. Type of treatment includes sprains, strains, wound management, infections, allergies, skin/hair/soft tissue disorders, among others.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interprets test results.
- Performs procedures such as suturing, splinting, casting, immunizations, injections, skin lesion removal, etc.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and assists in provision of continuity of care. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care options as appropriate.
- Prescribes medications and treatment regimens as appropriate.
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.
- Responds to stressful situations in a calm and rational manner.
- Counsels' patients and their families on health promotion, diagnosis and medical management.
- Behaves in a professional and empathetic manner in order to build trust with patients.
- Participates in the education of patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices.
- Assists ancillary staff with the maintenance of clinical competencies and the promotion of critical thinking skills.
- Interacts in a professional manner and works collaboratively with Clinicas’ staff and patients.
- Adheres to and follows established nursing policies, procedures and practices.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Interacts in a professional manner and works collaboratively with Clinicas’ staff and patients.
- Maintains a professional image.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, vendors and employees.
- May assist patients with mental illness, substance abuse problems and or/emotional disturbance.
- Due to the nature of the job, may work with or be exposed to information or material of a sexual nature.
- Performs other duties as assigned including participation in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Nursing degree.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Current California State License.
- Current DEA license with unrestricted prescription authority.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Current BLS for Healthcare providers certification
- Previous experience in an urgent care or emergency department preferred.
- Ability to maintain effective organized systems and ensure timely patient flow.
- Proficiency with use of computers and programs is required. Previous experience with Electronic Health Records system is desirable.
- Must have the ability to establish effective relationships with patients and fellow staff. Must be a team player with professional demeanor, possess a good work ethic, be self-motivated and a problem solver and take personal pride in own work.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and good clinical judgement.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including extended shifts, weekends and/or holidays.
- Maintains a neat and professional image. Must have reliable transportation.

Pay: $145,000.00 - $167,500.00 per year
