Base salary plus uncapped commission. Must be located in (or able to relocate to) Boston, and able to travel throughout the territory.

Must have selling experience in biotech/life sciences/lab, ideally selling service programs.


Job Description:

The Business Development, Life Sciences is responsible for managing growth and development of new business while building customer relationships and providing strategic direction to help grow revenue and profit for the organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of biopharma life science companies’ laboratory workflows and instrumentation and the GxP environment.

• Knowledge of the Life Science industry as it relates to our prospects, current clients, and competitors.

• Develop a strong sales pipeline and prospect for new clients and new business.

• Meet and exceed retention targets and sales quotas for new clients.

• Owns the account management and territory plans and works closely with the SVP to implement strategic sales plans.

• Maintain strong knowledge of company capabilities and service offerings.

• Design and deliver sales presentations to potential clients.

• Build relationships at multiple levels at client accounts.

• Manage the RFP process through completion.

• Draft and negotiate new SOW and MSA agreements.

• Support the implementation of new clients by working collaboratively with other teams.

• Maintain knowledge and communication regarding market conditions, competitive situation, client needs, and evolving business requirements.

• Represent company at trade association meetings, conferences, and other networking opportunities.

• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Specific Scope Responsibilities:

• Responsible for sales growth targets

• Responsible for managing growth and development of new business.

• Maintain a Sales Pipeline consisting of qualified prospects to meet quarterly sales goals.

• Provide realistic forecasts and communicates any significant changes or developments.

• Enter all sales opportunities into CRM and manage forecast and activities reporting.

• Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and strategic objectives, form relationships with decision makers and identify and close enterprise service business opportunities.

• Provide feedback for areas of improvement.


Requirements / Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

• Sales or business management experience in the BioPharma Life Science Laboratories space, preferably selling large asset management or service program deals.

• Executive level presence with an ability to interact and present effective written and verbal communications.

• Experienced at setting goals and monitoring performance to goals.

• Experienced in driving customer allegiance and growing existing customer base.

• Proven track record in managing/understanding a service or services related business.

• Willingness to travel (40% to 60% of time with some overnight travel).

• Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities.

• Ability to perform and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid and positive professional relationships with C-suite customers, peers, and upper management.

• Self-motivated; bias for action.

• Effective negotiating and influencing skills.

• Ability to solve problems independently.
