JOB DESCRIPTION:
- As part of R&D, this position creates and designs Master Batching Records (MBR) and improve manufacturing processes.
- Support product innovation, making prototypes and evaluating them for chemical and physical properties.
- Participate in the developmental projects undertaken by R&D, assist with smooth transfer of new products and processes from lab to production scale.
- Focus on scaling up processes from confirmation batches to pilot plant processing.
- Ability to commit to aggressive timelines and to deliver on those commitments.
- Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems. Coordinates and participates in execution of R&D trials and process improvement experiments.
- Active member of Technology Transfer Meeting.
- Troubleshoot complications from process samples on both lab scale and manufacturing (ex. pH adjustments, emulsions and viscosity)
- Support Quality with rework procedures as requested. This will include bench work as necessary.
- Investigate root cause of process engineering flaws or failures during batching process.
- Request formulation and /or specification revision as required.
- Create/ Update Ingredient Listings, Quantitate Listings, Finished Products Specifications, and Product Coversheets.
- Provide technical support to other departments; such as Batching, Production, Purchasing and Inventory Control.
- Conducts laboratory investigations/ corrective action under the supervision of Head of department or experienced chemist.
- Candidate should be able to write in details the batching and manufacturing (ex. MBR’s & Filling protocols) process.
- Daily bookkeeping is required. Record all data analysis, reworks procedures, processing investigation, and in general formulation details.
- Notify Head of department immediately of non-conforming data or unexpected occurrences.
- Complies with all regulatory/in-house requirements which may include but not limited to safety, housekeeping, laboratory chemical waste, cGMP, cGLP documentation.
- Perform additional job-related duties, as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. degree in Chemistry, Associate degree in Chemistry or related sciences.
- 2 - 5 years of relevant industry experience on high volume manufacturing preferred.
- Desirable: Hands on Laboratory work is a plus. Experience in Personal Care or Cosmetics; Food or Pharma.
- Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to interpret data and provide proper experimental design.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Effective communicator verbally, in writing, and comfortable speaking up.

- Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office.
- Technical communication skills, in order to present results in both written and oral report formats.
