EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Purpose of PositionUnder general supervision, performs responsible administrative, secretarial, and clerical work in support of Records Division programs and daily operations of the City Court. Ensures all exemptions and jury trial discoveries are completed in a timely manner. This position reports directly to the Assistant City Manager - Personnel.Essential Job Functions of the City ClerkProcess court documents: expungements, jury trials, warrants, bonds, and discovery request.Maintain accurate financial and case-related records: handle FOIA requests.Coordinate and support jury trials, maintain case files, and manage confidential records.Serve as liaison with attorneys, local agencies, and law enforcement.Provide administrative support: scheduling, data, entry, scanning, filling, and correspondence.Prepares and processes expungement orders.Ensure compliance with state and local legal procedures and timelines.Attend trainings and meetings to ensure up to date compliance with rules and regulations.Other job related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMinimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.Valid SC driver’s license with clean record.Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.Knowledge of: Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the City as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Clerk of Court.Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of City and other governmental agencies. Familiarity with SC Code of Laws and court operationsHas knowledge of current laws and requirements of the notary public commission. Skill in: Planning, coordinating, and directing the operations of the office.Strong customer service and professional demeanor.Communicating using various methods to varied audiences. Anticipating others' reactions and responding accordingly.Ability to: Attention to detail and confidentiality.Ability to work independently and multitask under pressure. To know the common general terms and terminology of the clerk’s office.Ability to receive and initiate effective communications both internally and externally in a tactful, pleasant and professional manner.Exercise immediate remedial action to correct any quality de?ciencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Perform described Essential Functions and related assignments ef?ciently and effectively in order to produce quantity of work which consistently meets established standards and expectations.Attend required meetings, training and planning sessions, public meetings, and discussions on time. Understand and practice basic risk management and office safety in accordance with established policies.Physical Demands of PositionPrimarily office-based with frequent computer use.Occasional lifting of materials up to 45 lbs. May involve moderate stress during deadlines or public interactions.Working Conditions1. Working conditions include predominately in an office setting, conference rooms, council chambers, and other meeting areas, but does require occasional exposure to outside elements in varying climatological conditions. 2.
