Salary : $22.00 - $27.35 Per hour DOE
Accounting Technician Part Time
Definition :
Under direct supervision of the City Treasurer (as is appropriate to the work function), performs a variety of accounting tasks related to Payroll, Utility Billing, and Front Desk services.
Receptionist Tasks :
Perform tasks as needed or assigned by City Treasurer in conjunction with the Utility Billing / Payment front counter activities.
Payroll Tasks :
Sets up new employee information in the Payroll module. Also enters employee personnel information changes (i.e. salary, benefits, deductions, job status modifications) into the appropriate computer modules. And performs other assigned functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics :
Knowledge of basic Clinton City rules and guidelines regarding utility billing and collections of water, sewer, garbage, secondary water, and stormwater fees.
Knowledge of computer software used for tracking / processing utility billings and accounting processes.
Knowledge of Clinton City utility billing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of basic record keeping and accurate cash receipting.
Skill in basic technical accounting as pertains to municipal finance, billing and accounting.
Skill in ability to quickly assimilate information sufficient to fill out and submit established forms, documents and records.
Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in operating a variety of office equipment including computers and calculators.
Qualifications :
Associates degree in accounting or finance AND experience equivalent to two (2) years full-time work performing accounting activities. Education may be substituted for experience on a one-to-one basis.
Work Environment :
The incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Rapid work speed required to perform keyboard operations. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discernment and some guided problem solving.
