Job Summary
The Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of city facilities. This position requires a proactive individual with basic skills in building maintenance, mechanical systems, and custodial tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and lighting.
- Conduct minor repairs, such as painting, carpentry, and basic plumbing.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner.
- Perform custodial duties, including cleaning common areas, emptying trash, and maintaining restrooms as needed.
- Assist in setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for events and meetings.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and tools.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols while performing tasks.
- Identifying and reporting larger repair needs or safety concerns to the City Manager.
- Perform seasonal maintenance tasks, such as snow removal.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance techniques.
- Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with staff and report issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Work Schedule
- Part-time, typically 25-29 hours per week.
