Job Summary
The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications, calculating costs, and preparing accurate estimates for construction projects. They work closely with project managers and clients to ensure cost-effective project execution while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Estimate Preparation: Analyze blueprints, technical documents, and project plans to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Material & Labor Costing: Assess material, labor, and equipment costs based on project scope and market rates.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential cost-related risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing project budgets and cost forecasts to ensure financial viability.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bids, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met.
- Cost Tracking: Monitor actual project costs against estimated budgets and provide variance reports.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to optimize cost-saving opportunities.
- Compliance: Ensure all estimates align with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, contracts, and pricing data for future reference.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities of the Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in estimation software.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primary work area is a controlled office environment, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
Classification & Compensation
