Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. He/she provides direct and indirect patient care in acute care, skilled care, and/or urgent care setting. Communicates with the registered nurse and/or physician about changes in patient's condition, including clinical findings and diagnostic results. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Participates in performance improvement and clinical quality initiatives (CQI) activities. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all assigned departments with adequate supervision.
Compliance:
Understand and comply with the requirements of the CRH Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all organization-wide policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities. Participates in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by CRH policy.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
Experience: 0-2 years' experience in an acute care setting preferred; not required.
Certificates, License, Registrations: Successful passing of the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses, or NCLEX-PN; BLS for the Healthcare Provider required. ACLS and PALS required.

- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Ability to contribute to the overall assessment by conducting focused assessments on all patients, including reassessment per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduce the likelihood of medical/ health care errors.
- Ability to contribute to the plan of care.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to patients' needs.
- Communicates effectively and appropriately to RN, charge nurse, medical staff, coworkers, and leadership.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians as appropriate.
