Job Summary
- Under the direction of Plant Operations Supervisor, performs a wide variety of general maintenance repair and construction duties
Essential Functions
- Assembles furniture
- Moves furniture
- Assist Electrician
- Assist Plumber
- Assist all others as needed
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleans and repairs heating and air conditioning units
- Performs a variety of routine preventive maintenance items, replacing filters, belts, light bulbs and oiling motors, etc., as required
- Repairs pumps, air compressors, exhaust fans, water softeners, etc.
- Assists in the repair of boilers under direct supervision
- Assists in the repair of electrical controls under direct supervision
- Assembles, moves and installs furniture, fixtures and equipment
- Assists in maintenance of hospital grounds; painting curbs, snow removal, lawns, etc.
- Repairs thermostats and air operated controls
- Performs a variety of minor repairs to miscellaneous hospital equipment such as beds, carts, kitchen equipment, toilet fixtures, etc.
- Performs a variety of basic carpentry duties, building walls, hanging doors, installing locksets, etc.
- Performs all other related duties as requested or required by the Plant Operations Supervisor
Qualifications
Education
- Equivalent to four (4) years of high school or vocational trades training
- Must have knowledge of basic electricity and plumbing. Ability to read blueprints is desirable
Experience
- Requires a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in general mechanical or construction position
- Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license
Physical Demands
- Work involves application of manual skills in the use of hand and/or power tools
- Duties may involve intermittent exertion of moderate to heavy manual effort in moving bulking equipment
- Visual acuity is required to read test instruments and gauges
- Duties may involve working in cramped quarters with exposure to dust, odors and chemical fumes. Some work may be performed out of doors with exposure to weather extremes
